Auburn’s Lew named SEC freshman of the week, Britton offensive lineman of the week

After a week in which Auburn head coach Hugh Freeze described Auburn as having the best protection for its quarterback of the season, two starters on the offensive line received SEC player of the week awards.

Freshman center Connor Lew was named the SEC freshman of the week and senior utility offensive lineman Gunner Britton was named as a co-offensive lineman of the week.

Lew received the first start of his college career Saturday against Mississippi State with regular starter Avery Jones out due to an injury. Lew played every snap at center and did not allow a sack. He only allowed one quarterback hurry.

Britton didn’t allow a sack or a hurry in the win. He’s played multiple positions across the Auburn offensive line this season and this is his second offensive lineman of the week award.
